Boys U8 Introduction to Travel - Spring 2020

Program Overview

Monroe Soccer Club (MSC) is excited to offer a U8 Introduction to Travel Soccer Program to assist with the transition from AYSO’s U8 4v4 style to travel soccer’s U9 7v7 style while continuing to learn the game and have fun! 

The program will consist of 5 weeks of training by MSC licensed coaches for 1.5 hours each and participation in a one-day tournament in Fishkill, NY Memorial Day Weekend (May 23-24th 2020). Teams will play against similar age and skill appropriate teams from CT, NY and other surrounding states!  Other friendly games to be scheduled in addition to the tournament.

Program Breakdown

  • Team Roster: Minimum 9, maximum 12 (First come first served basis - MSC will create multiple teams if there is enough interest and numbers).
  • Eligibility:  Open to all Monroe AYSO girls and boys born in 2012/2013 - U8 Division
  • Format: 7 v 7
  • Training Period: 5 weeks, Fridays – 4/24, 5/1, 5/8, 5/15, 5/22 from 5:00 – 6:30pm
  • Training Location: Behind Chalk Hill School
  • Tournament Information: 
  • Fishkill, NY
  • Boys play Saturday May 23rd and Girls play Sunday May 24, 2020
  • Game Times TBD when schedule is released

Cost

The cost of the program is $150.  Payment is due at the time of registration.  A MSC jersey is included in the cost.

MSC TRAVEL U11 BOYS Registration 2019/20 (Birth Year 2009)

Tryouts for 2019/20 Travel Soccer season with Monroe Soccer Club.

Thank you for interest in trying out for the Monroe Soccer Club Travel Program. The following attempts to provide a high level summary of the Monroe Soccer Club and what to expect. Please visit the MSC website or contact any member of the board, coach or manager if there are any additional questions.

The cost per player for the entire year will be approximately $1185. For first year players (including first year teams), there will be additional expenses of approximatel $150 for uniforms and equipment. Player communication as to whether or not a player was selected will take place the week of June 17th.

There is no fee due at the time of registration or try outs. If a player is extended an offer, the player will have until June 30th to make the first installment payment of $395 which will hold their spot on the team roster. If the acceptance fee is not paid by deadline, the player will be waitlisted and may result in the player forfeiting their offer. That balance paid will be credited to the overall dues. There is a cancellation fee of $100 if a player accepts the offer and then decides not to play. Also, there are no refunds issued once the seasons begins with preseason summer session.

The remaining payment schedule due dates are 9/1/19 and 2/25/20 which breaks out the remaining balance into 2 equal payments of $395. All fees can be paid online using a credit card or check made payable to MSC.

The fee for each player will cover the following:

Paid Coaching and Training

Unlike recreational soccer, CJSA travel program requires players to be able to compete at a higher level of technical and physical skills which is the reason that MSC hires qualified and licensed instructors. Players will receive over 100 hours of training across the season starting with Preseason camp in August.

MSC coaches and staff are amongst the best in the state. The staff includes current High School Varsity and college coaches as well as former pro and collegiate players.

Fall and Spring Season

The fall season will run from late August through mid November and the spring season will run from April through June.

Teams will play league games against other teams of similar age in the Connecticut Junior Soccer Association Southwest District. The geography of the Southwest district is from Greenwich to Ridgefield to Shelton to Bridgeport. Typically there are 8 games per season of which our are scheduled at home and four are away games. Games are scheduled to be played on Sundays.

Practices

The team will practice twice per week, and each session will last between one and two hours. In some cases the club as a group will have to cancel practices due to field closures as determined by the town and BOE. In these situations, the practice may or may not be made up depending on field availability.

Preseason Summer and Winter Training Sessions

MSC has preseason training each summer and winter. Summer pre-season sessions precede the Fall season and are held out-doors. Winter preseason sessions are held in-doors prior to the Spring season and may either be held over an 8 week session or a single week camp format. This is usually determined in the Fall based on membership feedback received and space availability.

Tournaments

Teams at U11 and older will participate in the Connecticut Cup games. The Connecticut Cup tournament is held for each age group in the fall and spring and is a single elimination tournament with the eventual winners declared Connecticut Cup Champions.

Teams are encouraged to participate in one other tournament per season. The entry fee for one tournament per season (Fall and Spring) is included the MSC fees. Additional tournaments entered into are at the expense of each team. Transportation and hotel costs are the responsibility of the player's parents / guardians should the team participate in a distant tournament.
